LAUTECH Crisis: Makinde Says Sole Ownership Is The Pragmatic Solution,To Release N500 Million |OGBOMOSO INFO|
In process to resolve the current crisis which resulted in strike action by staff on November 18, 2019. Governor Seyi Makinde visited the Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH), this morning to meet with all stakeholders,
The Governor assured them that Oyo State Government would intervene in the current crisis so studies can resume, if the various staff unions reach an agreement on how to utilise the intervention fund.
Makinde however is of the opinion that the State Government's proposal for sole ownership of LAUTECH is the solution the university needs. He however erased any notion that, this was not a rejection of Osun State people as our brothers and sisters but a pragmatic solution, as Oyo State is financially prepared to shoulder the responsibility of sole ownership.
He however called for the support and cooperation of the Staff members to find a lasting solution to the challenges in the university.
Governor Makinde who then cleared that the proposal for sole ownership of LAUTECH is not a rejection of Osun State people as brothers and sisters but a pragmatic solution, as Oyo State is financially prepared to bear the responsibility of sole ownership.
In the speech of the governor, he announced that he has taken note of everything the students have said.
He mentioned that his dream for LAUTECH is to compete with the best institutions in the world announcing that experts are coming to work in this place. Hence, we should put aside the issue of Osun and Oyo.
He mentioned that the Oyo government will pay salaries including those of LAUTECH on the latest 25th of each month.
By 9:00am tomorrow, he promised to inaugurate the committee that would work to solve the issues rocking the institution and that he will work in a path that will be favorable to all parties in LAUTECH.
Makinde mentioned that the salaries owed were before his time, but he wouldn’t shy away from these responsibilities of past happenings.
"LAUTECH at the heart of Ogbomoso and Oyo state as a whole and that with the support of all stakeholders, he would find a lasting solution."
In his speech, he mentioned that at least 20% allocation to education when he presents the budget to the state house of assembly.
He further added that Oyo will be ready to release 500m Naira to help the institution.
